I just watched Manchester by the Sea and highly recommend it. The story was simple yet emotionally complicated through the character relationships which both evolve and dissolve. The way it was shot reminded me of the screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan's other movie I loved entitled You Can Count on Me. Both take place in small towns and bring heavy back stories. If you are lucky to have a Sag/ Aftra screener then pop it in soon and enjoy on the couch. If not, experience it on the big screen and enjoy filmmaking at its best.
